We have based our product manufacturing on processes that eliminate some of the costly and wasteful steps used in other standard technologies. Berken Energy has shown that our manufacturing processes and semi-customized machinery allow us to increase the production output per machine by eliminating the number of steps required to produce efficient energy systems.
Manufacturing benefits include:
- The machines require limited modification from standard thin film systems allowing us to save startup costs and decrease our time to volume schedules.
- Because we use standard materials we have eliminated many of the exotic material availability constraints that competing energy products face.
We currently have a Perkin Elmer 2400 and a Leybold A500 (shown below) roll-to-roll production machine at our facility. We use the Perkin Elmer machine to develop the technologies and then scale them on the Leybold A500 as the commercial production machine.
Our thermovoltaic systems can be used wherever heat is generated, opening up an almost endless list of possible uses.
New Energy Sources
By harnessing the power of the earth using our geothermal thin film systems, we will open up much of the world’s ability to support geothermal energy creation. Currently geothermal systems require heat that is only found under ~1% of the continental U.S. Most of this land is either in use or protected. Our thermovoltaic system requires much less heat and thus allows much more of the U.S. (over 80% of the land and all 50 states) to participate in geothermal energy creation. This system is not limited by weather and produces consistent energy output 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
